Traversing the Terrain


Halar built this installation during his participation in a 2 month long research project to map the spirit of Genk, a small city in Flemish Belgium.

The exhibition consisted of Plexi Glass Sculptures titled Fluid Obliques and Diary scans of poems written throughout the two month research period tilted “If it is the Answer you seek” and “ गेंक and I”. The first Poem was written as a dialogue between the Halar and the city in his native language of Urdu. It served as an initial motivation for formulating the observational drawing technique also exhibited titled “Ink Trails”. 


Materials: Picture Frames x 4 (500 × 377 mm), thermoformed acrylic hand-shaped sculptures x 3 (Thickness- 2.3 mm) , in burnt orange, fluorescent pink, and transparent clear.
